About

Software developer · Data engineer · Builder of things

I’m a full-stack developer and data engineer with a focus on building reliable systems — from React and Jekyll-based interfaces to cloud infrastructure on AWS.

My work spans the full delivery lifecycle: writing features, building automated data pipelines, configuring Docker and Nginx environments, and maintaining engineering governance practices like code review standards, developer documentation, and accessibility compliance against Section 508 and WCAG AA.

I care about quality, consistency, and keeping systems audit-ready — whether that means clean data or clean code.

I use AI-assisted development tools daily — including Claude Code and Microsoft Copilot — to improve delivery speed and documentation quality.

Outside of work I tinker with Arduino and electronics, build side projects, and enjoy figuring out how things work at the hardware level.

Built with AI

This site itself is a recent example of AI-assisted development in practice. Using Claude Code, I built the entire stack in a single session:

  • A Jekyll + USWDS static site with custom Sass overrides, full-width layouts, and a consistent hero image system across all pages
  • A custom SVG logo designed and iterated directly in code
  • An AI-powered CMS (rpg-cms) — a local Node.js chat interface backed by the Google Gemini API that lets me update site content, add blog posts, and change navigation by typing plain English requests. Every change is automatically committed to git with a descriptive message, and reversions are one click away
  • A GitHub Actions CI/CD pipeline that automatically builds the Jekyll site, compiles USWDS assets, and deploys via FTP to the live server on every push to main — making updates possible from any device, including a phone

The workflow: describe a change in plain English → AI edits the files → git commits → GitHub deploys → site is live in under two minutes.
